I have been fat or morbidly obese my entire life. Sure, I would lose weight from time to time, but I would always gain it back, because I had an unhealthy relationship with food. As an obese person, I had a lot of problems.

Traveling was tough as I could never sit in economy when I had to fly, so I had to always pay for first class tickets, and always needed the embarrassing seat belt extension. I got to a point where I couldn’t fit in one Greyhound seat. Regular sedan seat belts wouldn’t wrap around me and shopping for clothes was hard, as I had to buy most of my clothes online, at a higher price because being obese means you cost manufacturers more money in materials.

Going out to a new restaurants was always preceded by a recon mission to make sure that I could fit in their chairs, or that the chairs were not flimsy and wouldn’t break under my weight. I stopped going to the movies or to Broadway plays because I reached a point where I couldn’t fit in the seats anymore. I was at risk for a myriad of obesity related health issues, from high blood pressure, which I eventually had, to heart attacks and strokes.

I know all to well what it was like to be unhealthy, and I know all to well that you can change your situation far more easier than most people can imagine. I started out weighing 530 lbs, and in less than a year I got down to under 225 lbs and am on my way to 195 lbs.
